Admission Indications

• Concern for the development of apnea
• Young age (< 6-12 weeks old)
• Prematurity
• History of apnea of prematurity
• Presentation with apnea
• Apnea witnessed by a parent or healthcare provider
• Respiratory distress
• Hypoxia
• Dehydration related to the inability to take fluids secondary to increased work of breathing
• Social factors (parental comfort and/or reliability of care and follow-up)

Inhaled racemic-epinephrine

• RE improves symptoms within 30 minutes and lasts approximately 2 hrs
• Relapse is generally to pre-treatment levels of severity
